Soil drench applications ancymidal (α-cyclopropyl-α-)p-methoxyphenol)-5-pyrimidinemethanol were more effective than bulb dips in retarding scape length and dry weight of Tulipa gesneriana L. Soil drench at 0.67 mg ai/pot was as effective as 3.33 mg in retarding scape growth. Ancymidol applications caused no change in leaf length or width, flower size or color, the date at which the tulips reached the salable stage, or the shelf-life of the flowers.
