The corn earworm on the cover, Heliothis zea (Boddie), is an example of one of the commonest and most destructive pests in the U.S. In addition to injuring corn, it attacks cotton (where it is known as the cotton bollworm) and tomatoes (where it is know as the green tomato worm)
Compiling and distributing slide-script series has been an ASHS volunteer program since 1972. In Feb. 1983, the ASHS Executive Committee suggested that a “peer review” policy be implemented to add credibility and to improve the quality of slidescript series.
