Abstract
Shoots were produced in vitro from callus induced on stem expiants of Dracaena marginata ‘Tricolor’ on medium with Murashige and Skoog mineral salts, coconut water (15% by vol), supplemented with 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and subcultured on medium supplemented with kinetin. Roots were obtained by subculture on medium supplemented with 1 mg/liter naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA). Rooted plantlets were transferred to potting medium in the greenhouse and subsequently transplanted to the field for further observation. The leaves of all derived plants lost the creamish-white stripe and resemble those of D. marginata, indicating D. marginata ‘Tricolor’ is a chimera.
