The author thanks Boiden Chemical, Division of Borden, Inc., for supplying two kinds of films (A and B, Table 1) with technical data and Dr. T. W. Downes of the Department of Food Science, Cornell University, who identified the unknown “film C” as a PVC film plasticized with phthalate type plasticizer and measured its thickness. The CO2 permeability of film C was 24% higher than film A as measured in our laboratory with a method described by Gilbert and Pegaz (3).
